In 1982, Larry Walters, a 33-year-old man from California, attached 45 helium balloons to a lawn chair, took flight, and soared to 15,000 feet. Armed with a BB gun to pop balloons for descent, he entered commercial airspace, startling pilots. After hours in the sky, he eventually landed in power lines and was arrested for endangering air traffic.
