The Rajputana Rifles were raised in 1775 by the British East India Company. The regiment was influenced by the military traditions and skills of the Rajputs. Earlier, the regiment was a part of the British Army, but after India's independence in 1947, it joined the Indian Army. At the time of its establishment, it was named "Rajputana Rifles", which symbolizes the valor, courage and dedication of the Rajputs.
