The new factory with its unique hybrid peeling machine marks a groundbreaking innovation in wood processing and forestry planning. This technology, developed specifically for Latvijas Finieris, enables us to process smaller diameter birch logs—down to 12 cm cylinders—that were previously exported as pulpwood or used for lower-value sawn products. By utilizing these resources more efficiently, we not only increase our production potential but also support forest owners in improving the productivity of forest land per hectare. With this innovation, even thinning operations can deliver a significant volume of veneer logs, adding value to forests and promoting sustainable, targeted forestry. We believe this innovative technology could enable more efficient use of approximately 300,000 cubic meters of birch wood annually across Latvia. Together, we can achieve smarter and more productive forest management while unlocking the full potential of our resources.
